Believe the reviews Dave (Submitted on 18th May 2018) These days I very rarely get near any big cities, working exclusively in rural areas. Hence, not much opportunity to go and listen live to a real Naim Muso in a reputable hifi outlet. Only dozens of reviews to go. I took the plunge and ordered online; believe the reviews - your ears will thank you for it. Thus far, I've only had the unit for a couple of weekdays and I only have it directly wired to my OPPO bluray player via the Naim's 3.5mm mini jack. All music material is stored on my 8-bay QNAP NAS.
I haven't yet tried the networking functions or the phone ap of the unit. So the Mu-so is solid and visually attractive. It's also about six inches wider than I was expecting; I see this as a positive and better for the stereo soundscape. There seems to be oodles of untapped power behind the quite reasonable volume levels I've tried so far.
For me, the real test of any piece of audio gear is simply to listen to your old favourite albums. The Mu-so makes me want to sit down and listen to my entire collection of music again (from chamber music to dark ambient, trad. Jazz to stoner/doom metal).
The Mu-so is revealing more of what's recorded. It's an invigorating experience.
And yes, the bass end is stunning. Even my sub-contrabass saxophone material, which is very deep, was presented to my ears with authority, confidence and apparent ease. On a par with my old in-car system (Nakamichi CD700 head. 15' JBL subwoofer) This is a Naim product and yes, it's hi fidelity all right. Definitely no regrets with this purchase.
